Chaps Drop Double-Header to #14 Temple College
The Midland College baseball out hit the Temple College Leopards but suffered losses in Saturday's twinbill at Christensen Stadium

The Midland College Chaparrals baseball team demonstrated their offensive punch versus #14 Temple College. The three game series saw one game played on Friday with a Saturday double-header at Christensen Stadium in Midland. The Chaps out hit the Leopards in each of the three games, however MC lost two of the three games to TC.
On Saturday Midland College recorded 10 hits (to Temple's nine) but the Chaps could only generate 7 runs in the 15-7 loss. MC sophomore second base, Xavier Melenedez went 2-3, including a homerun, with two RBI.
MC starting pitcher Daniel Bass went 4.2 innings on the mound and picked up the loss. In game two the Chaparrals once again out hit the Leopards (eight to seven) but came up short in the runs department, losing 7-4 to a talented Temple College team.
Matthew Guthmiller led the Chaps' offensively going 2-3 with two RBI followed by Melendez' 2-4 at the dish including one RBI. Holt Gibson was the losing pitcher with 5.0 innings on the mound.
Midland College current record is 11-5 overall headed into Tuesday, single nine-inning game versus Western Texas College beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Christensen Stadium. The WTC will count in the regular season but is not included in the conference standings.
The Chaparrals will open WJCAC play this weekend versus Odessa College. On Friday the Chaps will host the Wranglers in a noon double-header at Christensen Stadium. On Saturday, march 9th the teams will move to Odessa for a double-header at Wrangler Field.
