Chaps Overpower Western Texas College in Pre-Conference Matchup

In their final pre-conference game of the season the Midland College Chaparrals posted 10 runs in the first inning and never looked back in posting a 25-1 win over Western Texas College.  The "mid-week" game against Western Texas College was a single game that does not count in the WJCAC standings.  Midland College improved to 12-5 headed into Friday's conference opening double-header with Odessa College. 

In the WTC game the Chaparrals recorded 23 hits, including 10 extra base hits.  MC's Xavier Melendez, Parker Ibrahimi and Andrew Taylor each hit homeruns in the game.  First base Justin Rumfield led the Chaps with four RBI in the contest. 

Midland College will open WJCAC play on Friday, March 8th with a noon double-header versus Odessa College at Christensen Stadium.  On Saturday the Chaps and the Wranglers will play games three and four of the series in Odessa at Wrangler Field.
