Chaparrals Dispose of the Amarillo College Badgers, Face the Howard College Hawks
MC shook off a disappointing performance in game one against Amarillo College, to win the weekend series three games to one.

After a rough start to the weekend, in game one versus Amarillo College, the MC Chaps pulled things together winning the series 3-1 to improve to 16-4 in conference. Midland College improved to 28-9 overall and remain in a first place tie with New Mexico Junior College in the conference standings. MC lost the first game of the four-game series by a score of 10-1 but responded with a vengeance to take the next three 14-2, 6-0, 18-8.
Next on the schedule is a four-game series versus Howard College. The Hawks and Chaps will play games 1 and 2 in Midland at Christensen Stadium on Friday beginning at noon. Then the action shifts to Big Spring for games three and four at Jack Barber Stadium on the Howard College campus. Howard is currently 22-13 overall and 11-9 in conference after winning three of four over El Paso Community College. Howard has proven to be a tough out at home, going 8-2 at Jack Barber in 2024.
Midland College will expect to start Tyler Boudreau in game one, freshman Holt Gibson in game two, sophomore Daniel Bass in game three. The game four starter will be a game day decision.
In the most recent NJCAA Division I Baseball Poll, the MC Chaps received voting consideration to be ranked in the Top 20. The Chaps rank in the Top 15 nationally in several team statistical categories: 2nd in Doubles, 3rd in Slugging Percentage (.631) and Extra Base Hits (176), 4th in Team Batting Average (.376), 8th in On-Base Percentage (.474) and Total Bases (718) and 9th in Runs Batted In (345).
