Chaparrals Baseball Ranked #3 in the First NJCAA Division I Poll of 2025

The Midland College Chaparrals baseball team didn't earn many votes in the NJCAA preseason poll and were not ranked among the top 25 teams in the nation.. After opening the season by winning the first 13 games of the season, the pollsters took notice. When the first poll of the season was posted on Monday afternoon, it appears the Chaps everyone's attention. Midland College is ranked #3 nationally in the debut poll of 2025.
Region 5 rival Weatherford College is the top ranked team followed by Florida Southeastern State College. Also ranked among the nation's top 25 teams in NJCAA Division I baseball are: #6 Blinn College the defending national champions, #7 McLennan Community College, #12 Alvin Community College and #25 El Paso Community College. The Chaps opened the season in a three-game series versus Alvin Community College with MC sweeping all three games.
Midland College will play their first games after the new rankings, on Wednesday, February 26th in a 1:00 p.m. double-header versus North Central Texas College at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene. Following that twinbill, MC will play two games versus Temple College on Friday, February 28th @ 3:00 p.m. and Saturdy, March 1st @ 10:00 a.m. The Chaps will wrap up their tour of Texas with a single game against Navarro College on Saturday, March 1st @ 1:00 p.m. also in Temple.
