MC Chaps Baseball Moves Up to No. 2, Takes on Western Texas in a Rare Thursday/Saturday Conference Series
The Midland College baseball team took three of four games against Howard College and in the process moved up to the #2 spot in the NJCAA rankings.

The Midland College Chaparrals displayed an outstanding ability to stack runs in last weekend's four-game WJCAC series versus Howard College. The Chaparrals moved up to No. 2 in the most recent NJCAA DI poll, with a season record of 26-3. With the three wins versus Howard College, MC improved to 11-1 in the WJCAC, good for first place after three weeks of conference play.

The Chaparrals outscored the Howard Hawks 60-36 in the series with MC receiving outstanding offensive production by sophomores Dylon Myrow and Jorge Gil. Chaps pitchers Logan Flores, Luke Hayhow and Clayton Norrell had great outings on the mound versus Howard College. Norrell, a freshman from Amarillo, recorded a save on Friday and picked up a win on Saturday.
The Chaps will return to the diamond on Thursday when they travel to Snyder for a double-header versus Western Texas College (8-22, 5-7). The games were moved up a day from Friday to Thursday, due to expected high winds across west Texas on Friday. The Chaparrals and Westerners will play a double-header on Saturday at Christensen Stadium as previously scheduled.
