Thursday, April 2-Friday, April 3, 2026
Hobbs, NM/Midland, TX
The Midland College baseball team is scheduled to play a "split series" this weekend versus the New Mexico Junior College Thunderbirds. The Chaps are currently ranked #2 in the most recent NJCAA Baseball Polls, with a 30-3 overall record. That record includes 15-1 in the WJCAC, good for first place in the conference standings.
MC took all four games versus Western Texas College last weekend with games 1 and 2 being played in Snyder. Games 3 and 4 were played at Christensen Stadium in Midland. The Chaps lead the WJCAC race by three full games over New Mexico Military Institute.
This weekend's games were moved to Thursday at Hobbs and Friday at Midland, due to the Easter Holiday weekend. NMJC is in fourth place in the standings with an 8-8 record. The Thunderbirds swept all four games versus Odessa College in last weekend's WJCAC standings.
The Chaparrals are one of the top offensive teams in the nation, ranking 6th in runs scored (420), 9th in triples (18), 5th in runs batted in (370) and 4th in on-base percentage (.510). Midland College head coach Hector Rodriguez will likely start Logan Flores (8-0) in game one. MC's Jason Berglund is expected to be the starter in game two followed by Luke Hayhow who will see action in game three. Berglund has a record of 4-0, while Hayhow is currently 3-1 this season.
