The Midland College Chaparrals baseball team hit the road a day earlier than expected for this week's four-game conference series at Clarendon College. Areas of west Texas, including the "panhandle" are under a storm watch which includes large areas of heavy rains and winds over the weekend. Because of that threat, the Chaps and Bulldogs moved the series up a day to Thursday and Friday. The Chaps and Bulldogs will play noon double-headers on each day.
The Chaparrals will look to continue their winning ways and to extend their current win-streak to 14 games. The Chaps remain ranked #2 nationally with a season record of 34-3, which includes a 19-1 record in the WJCAC. Clarendon College sits at 5-34 this spring and 2-18 in conference.
Midland College is led by their strong offensive production which features five players hitting .400 or higher through 37 games. Freshman Caleb Eager leads the Chaps with an outstanding batting average of .466. The Chaparrals are hitting .385 as a team, with 87 homeruns.
Go Chaps!
