Regular Season Finale
Friday, May 1, 2026 #4 Midland College @ Odessa College (1:00/3:00 p.m.)
The #4 MC Chaps split their four-game WJCAC series at Roswell, NM versus the New Mexico Military Institute Broncos. The Chaps, 44-6 overall and 29-3 in conference, won their two games with scores of 7-5 and 7-4. The Chaparrals suffered losses to NMMI by scores of 7-6 and 12-10. Entering the series at Roswell Midland College's "magic number" was two, meaning they would only need to win any two of their final eight games to secure the 2026 WJCAC title.
In winning the conference championship Midland College will host an opening round playoff series at Christensen Stadium. The first round playoff series is considered to be the "regional" round on May 7-9 with the second round or "super regionals" will take place May 14-16 at a site to be determined.
Midland College had their hands filled with the feisty NMMI Broncos who were fighting for their playoff lives as they sat in third place in the conference standings headed into last weekend. The Broncos remain in third place after last weekend's split, four games behind second place Odessa College and one game ahead of fourth place New Mexico Junior College. With four games to play in the regular season Odessa College, New Mexico Military Institute, New Mexico Junior College and Howard College each remain in playoff contention for the remaining three seeds from the WJCAC.
