Midland College Baseball Hosts Hill College Rebels in Southwest District Regional at Christensen

NJCAA Southwest District Regional Round (May 7-9, 2026)

The Midland College Chaparrals are scheduled to host the opening round of the 2026 NJCAA Southwest District playoffs at Christensen Stadium.  The Chaparrals, ranked 9th nationally, enters the post-season with an impressive 45-9 overall record and on the heels of their second WJCAC title in the last three years (2024 and 2026).  Hill College comes in at 34-18 this season, finishing in 4th in the highly competitive NTJCAC in 2026.  

The opening round of the Southwest District playoffs will be a best of three game format (first team to win two games) beginning on Thursday, May 7th @ 1:00 p.m. at Christensen Stadium in Midland.  Each game is scheduled for nine-innings with the "run rule" in effect (ten runs after the 5th inning and/or eight runs after the 7th inning).  The second game of the series will be played on Friday, May 8th @ 1:00 p.m.  If a third game is required, it will take place on Saturday, May 9th @ 1:00 p.m.  

No admission will be charged so interested individuals are welcome to come in and enjoy several days of competitive college baseball.  Fans are also welcome to bring their own refreshments and snacks to Christensen Stadium.  Christensen Stadium does not allow any drinks containing alcohol on premise.  

This week there will be four "region" rounds of the playoffs at Odessa, Denison and Weatherford.  In addition to the Hill at Midland series at the Midland Region, Odessa College will host McLennan Community College (the Odessa Region), NTJCAC champion Grayson College hosts Howard College in the Denison Region and Weatherford College will host New Mexico Military Institute in the Weatherford Region.
