The Midland College Chaps basketball team will use the open date to prepare for next week's important conference match-ups with Frank Phillips College and New Mexico Junior College; both in Midland. The Chaparrals, 16-8 overall and 5-5 in the WJCAC, are currently tied for the fourth playoff spot along with New Mexico JC.
On Monday, Midland College scratched out a narrow, but critical three-point win at Howard College (74-71) to keep their post-season hopes alive. A strong showing at home on Monday versus Frank Phillips College and at home on Thursday versus the NMJC Thunderbirds would give the Chaparrals a slight edge in the conference standings.
Midland College sophomore guard, Jarren Cook, exploded for 25 points versus the Howard College Hawks to lead the Chaps in scoring. Cook from Dallas, TX is averaging 15 points per contest this season.
Monday's game against the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen will be Midland College Basketball White Out Night at the Al G. Langford Chaparral Center with free White Out t-shirts for the first 200 fans through the door.
