With a playoff appearance hanging in the balance, the Chaps exhibited guts and determination in a 83-77 loss to Clarendon College on Monday night in the Texas Panhandle. With the loss MC's 2024 post-season hopes ended with one game remaining in the regular season. Midland College 19-10 on the season, including 8-7 in conference, will play their final game of the season on Thursday at South Plains College in Levelland.
The season has been unusual in many way due to player injuries, administrative obstacles and other impediments to what promised to be another strong year for the program. The coaching staff performed miracles in the face of adversity to make a run at a second consecutive Region 5 Basketball Tournament appearance and, possibly, a return trip to the NJCAA National Tournament.
The Chaparrals employed a balanced scoring attack versus the Bulldogs, with six players scoring in double-figures. Freshman Jaden Kempson led the Chaps with 15 points.
Go Chaps!
