MC Chaparrals Basketball Qualifies for the NJCAA Region 5 Basketball Tournament in Waco
The #18 Midland College Chaps advanced to the Region 5 Tournament after finishing the regular season at 21-9 and 11-5 in conference.

The Midland College Chaparrals secured their place in the post-season after finishing the regular season with a 21-9 record, including 11-5 in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference (WJCAC). The Chaps will advance to the Region 5 Tournament as the #3 seed from the WJCAC to take on Weatherford College (18-11, 11-3) the #2 seed from the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference. The MC vs. WC game is scheduled for Wednesday, March 12th @ 3:00 p.m. on the campus of McLennan Community College in Waco.
The Chaps enter the post-season with a 5-5 record of their final 10 regular season games. However the team has wins versus several ranked teams including the #1 ranked Snow College Badgers. The Chaps are the only team to have beaten Snow College this season. MC has also defeated #15 Frank Phillips College, #20 New Mexico Junior College and two wins versus #24 Odessa College.
Midland College's offensive arsenal includes scoring from Trey Clarke, Antoine Hurns, Jaden Kempson, Robert Dix and Grigorije Avramovic each scoring in double-figures this season.

Midland College and Weatherford College are intimately familiar with one another having face one another twice this season. The Coyotes defeated the Chaps 70-67 in Midland on November 9th and again on November 26th in a four-overtime affair in Weatherford with a final score of 90-89.
