Bio

Assistant men’s basketball coach CJ Williams joined the Midland College team in August of 2025 after
two years as the head coach at Keys Gates Charter School in Homestead, FL.

Williams is a native of Powder Spring, GA who first arrived in Texas after he was recruited by and played
for Hill College in Hillsboro, TX. In his freshman year at Hill College, Williams averaged a “double-
double” and helped lead the Rebels to an NJCAA Region 5 championship. Coach Williams earned an
Associates of Business Administration from Hill College in 2015.

Following his time in Hillsboro, CJ went on to play at NCAA Division I Stephen F. Austin University. His
winning ways allowed for a smooth transition to SFA. In his junior season at SFA, Williams played in 31
of 34 games for the Lumberjacks where he averaged 10 minutes per game. The ‘Jacks captured the
Southland Conference championship and advanced to the second round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament
aka March Madness. CJ graduated from SFA with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology/Health Science in
2017.

Coach Williams brings a wealth of experience to Midland College having worked as a basketball trainer;
an associate head coach and college instructor at his Alma Mater (2017-2020) Hill College; an assistant
coach at Stephen F. Austin University for one year and served as a high school teacher and coach, at
various stops from 2021 until he joined the Midland College Chaps basketball program earlier in 2025.
CJ’s addition has been a seamless one, joining former coach Isaac Fontenot-Amedee in Midland.
Fontenot-Amedee and Williams go back to Williams’ days as a player at Hill College. Coach Fontenot-
Amedee was an assistant coach on the staff during that time.
