The Midland College Chaparrals bolted up the national polls to #7 in the November 17, 2025 NJCAA Men's Division I rankings. This comes on the heels of the Chaps outstanding two games at the East-West Challenge Classic in Plano, last weekend. In Midland College's opening game at the Classic, the Chaparrals faced, then #1 ranked, and defending national champion, Trinity Valley Community College on Friday at 4:00 p.m. MC received balanced scoring from Darius Carr, Nicholas Anthony and returnee Antoine Bo Hurns who posted 16, 16 and nine points respectively. Solomon Ominu pulled down 12 rebounds versus the Cardinals, while freshman point guard Cayden Reed contributed eight points, six assists, four steals and two defensive rebounds. The Chaparrals defeated the TVCC Cardinals by a score of 75-62.

On Saturday, in what was a quick turnaround, the Chaparrals were paired against Lamar State College - Port Arthur in a 10:00 a.m. game. The Chaparrals steadily extended their lead over Lamar State College - Port Arthur from nine-points at the intermission (37-28) to as much as a 28-point lead in the second half. When the final horn sounded, Midland College subdued the LSC-PA Seahawks by a score of 72-50. The Chaparrals outscored the Seahawks 35-22 in the second half. Once again MC's Carr led the team in scoring with a 17-point outburst followed by Nayte Spargo who recorded 10 points. Solomon Ominu led MC with 10 rebounds. The wins improved the Chaparrals' overall record to a spotless 6-0 this season.

The Chaparrals will next be in action at the Odessa College Wrangler Club Classic at the OC Sports Center (November 20-22). On Thursday, the Chaparrals will take on the Pearl River Community College, MS Wildcats (5-1) at 5:00 p.m. On Friday Midland College is scheduled to play the Blinn College Buccaneers (5-0) also at 5:00 p.m. In their final game of the weekend, MC will take on NJCAA Region 5 member, Southwestern Christian College of Terrell, TX. SwCC enters the weekend with a 5-1 record.
