The Midland College golf team continues to impress in 2024. Once again the Chaparrals are ranked as the #1 in the NJCAA Men's Division I golf according to the October 11th Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches poll. MC coach Walt Williams has assembled a talented group of freshmen to go along with a seasoned set of second-year players who have each contributed to the successful fall semester of competition.
Midland College, fresh off a strong showing in the Wichita State University Shocker Invitational, the Chaps received three first-place votes as well as 64 points in this week's coaches poll.
MC finished in a tie for 5th place behind Wichita State University, the University of the Incarnate Word, Xavier University and Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville and tied with the University of Denver in the 54-hole invitational event. The Chaps finished six strokes behind WSU, the tournament host team.
The Chaparrals return to competition on Monday, October 14th when they play in the 2024 Herb Wimberly Invitational in Las Cruces, NM (hosted by New Mexico State University). The 54-hole tournament will be held at the NMSU golf course.
