It would be an impressive feat to finish in third place at any collegiate tournament event. Its even more impressive to do so as the only two-year college team in a tournament field comprised of 13 NCAA Division I teams. That's exactly what the upstart Midland College golf team did when they completed the 2025 Sam Houston State University Bentwater Intercollegiate in Montgomery, TX. The tournament was played at the Bentwater Yacht and Country Club (par 71). Teams played 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday.
The Chaparrals, ranked #1 in the NJCAA Mens Division I national poll, played exceptionally well to finish in third place, 12 strokes behind the tournament champions (Chattanooga) and 11 strokes behind the host college, Sam Houston State University. Midland College set alone in second place after the first day of tournament play.
Midland College recorded team scores of 286-273-303--862 (+10) led by freshman Harrison Sewell who shot 72-67-72--211 (-2) over the 54 hole event. MC Sophomore Benjamin Lund-Ravn finished T-8th in the individual race shooting 70-68-77--215 (+2) over three rounds.
Midland's Scott Spark finished T-15th at 217 (+4), Reuben Harvey finished T-22nd at 219 (+6) and Bryce Womack finished in 69th place with a score of 230 (+17).
