Midland College Golf Earns #1 Preseason Ranking in NJCAA, Opens 2025 Schedule at Andrews
The Midland College Chaparrals golf team, fresh off winning the 2025 NJCAA Men's Division I title, will open play in the 2025-2026 season ranked #1, at the Andrews Golf Course College Amateur in Andrews, TX.

Coach Walt Williams and the MC golf team will open defense of their national championship beginning on Sunday at the Andrews County Golf Club in Andrew, TX. The invitational tournament will feature several of the top teams in the NJCAA, including #1 Midland College, #4 Odessa College, #5 New Mexico Junior College, #8 Western Texas College and Wayland Baptist University of the NAIA. These rankings are from the Bushnell / Golf Week Preseason poll for the fall semester of 2025.
The Chaparrals return a strong core of outstanding sophomores including All-NJCAA team members Scott Spark and Reuben Harvey. In addition to Spark and Harvey, second year standout Hunter Welch returns to the team after showing an impressive level of week-by-week improvement throughout his freshman year. Joining the Chaps this year is sophomore transfer Awesome Burnett who comes to MC from San Jose State University.
Freshmen Kalle Blixt, Oskar Falshoj, Yaser Garcia, Jr., Leo Powell, Michael Flaherty, Sam Broussard, Payton Benneweis round out the team.
Expected to comprise the tournament team are Spark, Harvey, Blixt, Welch, Falshoj and Burnett.
