Coach Walt Williams created a spring semester schedule that is meant to challenge the MC golf team and to prepare them for the post-season. That includes the 2026 NJCAA Men's Division I National Championship. The schedule includes 1,800 miles of travel as well as participation in the best tournaments available, including NCAA DI and DII events. Midland College, currently ranked No. 4 in the NJCAA rankings, finally got to sleep in their own beds and to play in on a course they are familiar with. That being Green Tree Country Club in Midland.
The 2026 TankLogix Tall City Exploration Green Tree Invitational brought together a strong field, including several teams ranked in the NJCAA's top 10. The Chaparrals struggled in the tournament's opening round, but rebounded to move into contention after the second round of the event. In Tuesday's final round, Midland College shot the low round to pull to within two strokes of the eventual team champion Odessa College.
