MC Softball Moves to 13-2 After Split at #20 ranked Weatherford College

The Midland College softball team went 3-1 versus the likes of Ranger College and nationally ranked Weatherford College on Tuesday and Wednesday, to surge to 13-2 on the season. The Lady Chaps were previously scheduled to play Ranger College at Ranger on Tuesday, but added a double-header with Weatherford College in Weatherford on Wednesday. The late schedule addition required the Ladies to drive back to Midland from Ranger late Tuesday night and depart for Weatherford at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
Despite the quick turn-around, including 14+ hours on the road, the Lady Chaps played at a high level, winning at Ranger (10-2 and 6-0) and splitting with the WC Coyotes. Weatherford took game one 2-1 in nine innings with Midland bouncing back to take the second game 8-5.
Over the four games the Lady Chaps received strong individual performances from the pitching staff of Azalea Ramos, Katelynn Perez, Emma Lovato and Jalyn Montes as well as offensive production from Perez, Anissa Rodriguez, Madison Stewart. Freshman pitcher, Perez, went 7-14 at the plate over the four game span.
Midland College will travel to Brownwood, TX for the Brownwood Crossover Classic (February 16-17). On Friday the Lady Chaps will take on Hill College @ 3:00 p.m. and #5 ranked Grayson at 5:15 p.m. Saturday Midland College will play Western Nebraska Community College @ 9:30 a.m. and Temple College beginning at 11:30 a.m. The Crossover Classic will be played at the Bert V. Massy Sports Complex.
