Midland College Lady Chaps Softball Goes 4-2 on Spring Break Road Trip, 23-6 Overall
The Lady Chaps picked up a split versus Northeast Texas CC, swept Kilgore College and spilt with #17 Trinity Valley CC

The Midland College Lady Chaps journeyed to east Texas in a test of team fortitude over Spring Break. Midland College was originally scheduled to play eight games over five days, but ultimately played six games in three days. Rainy weather forced the cancellation of a potential Saturday matchup with Tyler Junior College in Tyler.
MC played Northeast Texas Community College on Tuesday, Kilgore College on Wednesday and #17 Trinity Valley Community College on Thursday in Athens, TX. Midland College 23-6 overall, went 4-2 on the road trip earning splits with NTCC and TVCC and taking both games versus Kilgore.
Three of the wins were earned by freshman pitcher Emma Lovato. Lovato, from Farmington, NM, picked up wins over each of the three opponents. Lovato struck out 11 NTCC Eagle batters on Tuesday, recorded six K's on Wednesday versus the Kilgore College Lady Rangers. She then followed up with 10 more strikeouts when she faced the #17 ranked Trinity Valley CC Lady Cardinals on Thursday. Lovato currently leads NJCAA Division I with 150 strikeouts in 88.1 total innings pitched. She is also 10-4 on the season for the Lady Chaps.
MC received outstanding performances from Jalyn Montes who was a combined 8-17 (.471) at the plate with 11 RBI and three homeruns, followed by Jayci Johnson's 10-22 (.455) with five RBI.
Midland College will take a week off from competition to prepare for the 2024 WJCAC opening series versus Clarendon College. Midland will host Clarendon beginning on Friday, March 22 in a 1:00 p.m. double-header at Lady Chaps Field. MC and CC will also play a Saturday twinbill beginning at 11:00 a.m. also at Lady Chaps Field.
