Lady Chaps Cruise in Four-Game Sweep of Clarendon College in WJCAC Opening Series

The Midland College softball team picked up four victories in the conference opening series versus Clarendon College. The Lady Chaps are 8-2 over their most recent ten games, going back to a double-header split with Northeast Texas Community College on March 12th. MC is currently 27-6 this season, including the four game sweep against Clarendon.
Freshman pitcher Emma Lovato picked up two wins, to improve to 12-4 this season, recording 19 strikeouts in the two outings. Fellow Lady Chaps pitchers Katelynn Perez (9-1) and Azalea Ramos (3-1) each also picked up wins over the weekend. In addition to her pitching win, freshman Katelynn Perez put on an offensive show going 9-12 (.750) with 15 RBI and three homers over the four game set. Freshman infielder Erikha Ibarra joined in on the hit parade with 10 hits in 12 at-bats (.833) and six RBI in four games.
Katelynn Perez is currently #27 nationally with a .507 batting average this season. She is also ranked T-31st in wins with nine. Emma Lovato ranks second in NJCAA DI in strikeouts with 169 and 14th in wins with 12 this season.
Midland College softball will travel to Borger, TX for a four-game Easter weekend set versus the Lady Plainsmen. FPC is 10-10 overall this season and will open conference play this weekend versus the Lady Chaps.
