Midland College Lady Chaps vs. El Paso Community College Tejanas
April 25-April 26, 2025
El Paso, TX
Last weekend's four-game WJCAC series versus #9 ranked Odessa College served as a gauge for how good the MC Lady Chaps are in 2025. Midland College enjoyed considerable success this season, compiling a record of 37-4, including a 33 game consecutive win streak and going 10-0 in conference.
The series opened in Odessa on Thursday with a double-header at the Wrangler Softball Complex. OC entered the weekend at 31-4, including 12-0 in conference. Games one and two of the series proved the Lady Chaps could stand toe-to-toe with one of the NJCAA's best teams. MC actually led, late in both games, only to have wins slip through their hands 6-4 and 7-6. Both contests were heartbreaking losses for Midland College.
As the action moved to Midland on Friday and despite the previous day's disappointment, MC was determined to keep up their intensity level. However it was not to be as Odessa College won both games by scores of 8-3 and 11-3. Midland College dropped to 37-8 overall and 10-4 in conference.
MC will look to put their woes to bed as they travel to El Paso for a four-game WJCAC series versus the Tejanas. EPCC is currently 15-17 this season and 8-8 in the WJCAC. The games will be played at El Paso CC's Val Verde Campus Softball Field. Reminder that El Paso is in the Mountain Time Zone so adjust your schedules accordingly.
Despite this season's success the Lady Chaps have yet to crack the national rankings. This season MC has split with #20 Weatherford College at Weatherford and twice defeated #21 ranked Tyler Junior College at Lady Chaps Field.
Midland College is currently in second place in the WJCAC heading into the El Paso CC series. They also have two make-up games versus Frank Phillips College on Tuesday, April 29th in Plainview. MC will close out the regular season when they host Clarendon College on Thursday, May 1st and Friday, May 2nd at Lady Chaps Field.
Saturday, May 2nd will be Lady Chaps Softball Sophomore Day with the departing members of the team being recognized in a post-game ceremony.
