MC Softball to Host #25 Arizona Western College in Pre-Conference Double-Header at Lady Chaps Field
The Midland College softball team is currently 13-3 after taking two games versus the Wayland Baptist University JV on Tuesday in Midland.

The Midland College softball team will play their final games before next week's Spring Break when they host #25 ranked Arizona Western College at Lady Chaps Field. The Lady Chaps are currently 13-3 this season following Tuesday's double-header sweep of Wayland Baptist University's JV squad. Midland College defeated WBU by scores of 11-2 in five innings and 9-1, also in five innings. MC put on a powerful hitting performance versus the WBU Pioneers, recording eight homeruns in the two games. MC's Adelina Noriega and Mia Garcia each recorded two homers on the day.
The Arizona Western College Matadors arrive in Midland with 16-4 record. The games will be a reunion of sorts as the Matadors are coached by Joel Prickett who previously coached at El Paso Community College, Odessa College and Cisco College. While at Odessa College, Prickett coached a hardworking and determined infielder named Angelica Castro. Castro now serves as the head coach of the Lady Chaps.
AWC is led by sophomore Analy Trejo who is hitting .500 this season. Sophomore Jessica Smith is the ace with a 9-1 record, including a 0.72 ERA and 70 strikeouts. Midland College will counter with the likes of sophomore Adelina Noriega, freshman Jozanna Montes and freshman Suri Flores. Noriega, Montes and Flores are each hitting over .400 this season. Sophomore Anays Perez is 7-1 in the circle with 40 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.53. Perez is also batting .385 this season with two homeruns and 12 RBI.
