Midland College Drops WJCAC Opener at Odessa, Prepares for Howard College

The Midland College Lady Chaps took took the short drive to Odessa for the 2025 WJCAC opening contest versus Odessa College. Midland College, 11-5 overall this season, had hopes of stealing a win versus the Lady Wranglers and to start conference play in the win column. Despite pulling to within three points in the matchup, Midland College was unsuccessful in overcoming the home court advantage held by Odessa College. Final score Odessa College 76, Midland College 63.
The Lady Chaps were led by sophomores Dee Henderson (Odessa, TX) who posted a 20 point, 10 rebound game followed by Toyah Montgomery's 13 points and Endija Sedlina's 10 point night. Lady Wrangler Jaedyn Cook scored 18 points to lead OC. With the loss Midland College goes to 0-1 in the WJCAC headed into Thursday's home game with Howard College.
Howard College will open conference play on Thursday, January 9th at Midland College. The Lady Hawks had an open date on Monday. Howard is currently 8-6 this season and averages 73.4 points and 39.1 rebounds per game. The Lady Hawks receive double figure scoring from four players: Mackenzie Heeke (11.3), Jah'Mareah Linville (11.2), Kailyn Berry (10.5) and Ma'Halia Twine (10.1) lead the balanced scoring attack.
