SNYDER, TEXAS - The Midland College volleyball team swept both of its matches on the second and final day of the Western Texas College Fall Invitational on Saturday, beating Southwest Christian College 25-9, 25-4, 25-10 and defeating Vernon College 25-19, 25-10, 25-7.
MC (4-4) finished the tournament with a 2-2 record.
In the match against Vernon, Laura Milori led the Lady Chaps with nine kills, Miranda Acosta and Milori each had a team-high 10 digs, Ana Zink compiled 16 assists, Linda Conceicao made 3 ½ blocks and Zoe Fernandez had four aces.
Against Southwest Christian, Fernandez led with 10 kills, Acosta had 14 digs, Julia Kabala tallied 16 assists, Conceicao made 2 ½ blocks and Kinga Romanowicz collected three aces.
MC heads to the Dalton Overstreet Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Prescott, Arizona.

Lady Chaps lose twice at WTC Invitational

SNYDER, TEXAS - The Midland College volleyball team dropped two matches at the Western Texas College Fall Invitational on Friday.
Lee College defeated MC, 18-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-20, and then No. 7-ranked Blinn College swept the Lady Chaparrals, 25-16, 25-15, 25-20.
Against Lee College, Zoe Fernandez led the Lady Chaps with 18 kills, Miranda Acosta had 15 digs and Julia Kabala added 34 assists.
No statistics were available from the match against Blinn.
MC (2-4), which has lost four in a row, is scheduled to play two more matches at the invitational on Saturday, against Southwestern Christian College at 9 a.m., and then against Vernon College at 3 p.m.
