The Midland College volleyball team looked to extend their outstanding recent play on Saturday at Amarillo College. MC led throughout the first set and for most of the second stanza and seemed in control in their conference road matchup with the Badgers.
The Lady Chaps locked up the first game by a score of 25-22. Midland College, 4-8 and 1-1, could not hold off Amarillo College in the second set, after being comfortably ahead when AC stormed back to take the second set 25-23. The Lady Chaps lost the third and fourth sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-17. It appeared the Lady Chaps could not regroup after leading in the second, only to drop the set.
Amarillo College improved to 8-10 overall and 1-1 in the WJCAC. MC will have to put Saturday's match behind them as they face an always-tough road match at Western Texas College on Wednesday, then will play host to Frank Phillips College at home on Saturday, September 28th @ 2:00 p.m.
In the Amarillo College match, setter Martyna Lubowicz recorded a "double-double" posting 27 assists and 11 digs in the contest. Ipek Kusoglu chipped in with 11 kills to lead the team.
WTC is currently riding a three-match losing streak including two WJCAC losses to Odessa College and Frank Phillips College. The Lady Westerners are currently 8-11 in 2024 and 0-2 in conference.
