Midland College Volleyball Suffers 5-Set Loss to Rival Odessa College, Plays at Clarendon College on Saturday
In a riveting, well-played five set match the Midland College Lady Chaps had their chances versus Odessa College.

The MC volleyball team continues to work on overall a successful and consistent lineup as they enter the second half of WJCAC play. Coach Kristina Gafford made adjustments to the rotation as the Lady Chaps hosted the Odessa College Wranglers on Wednesday night at the Chaparral Center. MC battled throughout the contest, pushing the nationally ranked Wranglers to five sets before running out of steam in the highly competitive match.
The Lady Chaps currently stand at 5-12 and 2-5 in the WJCAC headed into Saturday's match at Clarendon College.
In the OC match, Midland College took the first set by a score of 25-22. Odessa College bounced back to take sets two and three, with scores of 25-15 and 25-20. The Lady Chaps decided they were not ready to roll over and responded with a 25-22 fourth set win. In the fifth and final set of the match, OC took early control to win the match, 15-5.
Midland College saw outstanding play by Iasmin Araujo who lead the team with 18 kills and 16 digs. Noa Reculard recorded 16 kills, 11 digs and 1.5 blocks. Lady Chaps workhorse setter, Martyna Lubowicz posted 43 assists in the match and also picked up 10 digs versus the Wranglers.
Coach Gafford and the Lady Chaps hit the road on Saturday, October 12th in a 2:00 p.m. match with Clarendon College. Midland College will return home, next week, for matches with Amarillo College on Wednesday, October 16th @ 6:00 p.m. and versus Western Texas College on Saturday, October 19th @ 2:00 p.m. Wednesday's match will be the annual observance of National Breast Cancer Awareness which takes place each October.
