The Midland College volleyball team concluded the regular season with a three sets to one loss to #10 Odessa College. The match, played at the OC Sports Center, ended the season for Midland College who finished 2024 with a record of 8-16, including 5-9 in conference.
Despite their record Midland College showed remarkable resilience in the WJCAC after losing two key team members to season-ending injuries in September. Playing with only 10 healthy team members, MC played well in both matches against the nationally ranked OC Wranglers. The first match was a five-set thriller followed by Saturday's four set loss at Odessa. The Lady Chaps narrowly missed out on a post-season berth by two matches.
Midland College was led by freshmen Iasmin Araujo and Noa Reculard who each posted 11 kills in the match. Freshman libero Hailey Reyes recorded 14 digs in the contest. MC sophomore setter Martyna Lubowicz lead the Lady Chaps with 30 assists.
In her first year as head coach, Kristina Gafford has proven to be a solid figure at the helm of the Lady Chaps program. Coach Gafford will have the luxury of returning at least nine members of this season's roster members. The team was comprised of eight freshmen and four sophomores. Sophomore setter Jordan Eager is expected to return for the 2025 season due to injury.
